Betty V. Sayre, 92, Racine, passed away at 3:55 A.M. Tuesday, July 26, 2016, in the Overbrook Center. Born May 31, 1924 in Athens, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Alma Markins Woodgerd. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Hartford, West Virginia, the Racine Area Community Organization and attended the Racine First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Veterans Memorial Hospital for over 17 years.
She married Guy F. Sayre on April 28, 1943 and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1972.
Surviving is her daughter, Becky Hensler, Racine, daughters-in-law, Paula Sayre, Pomeroy and Carolyn Sayre, Hartford, West Virginia, grandchildren, Chad (Ada) Sayre, Timothy Sayre, Stephanie Derifield, Belinda (Jason) Stertzbach, Rachel (Chad) Wallace and Nathan Hensler, great-grandchildren, Jared Sayre, Jasper Stertzbach, Jacob Wallace and Jena Wallace a sister, Delores Cleland, Racine and a brother, Arthur (Betty) Woodgerd, Marietta, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Dale F. Sayre and Lloyd Sayre, sister, Frances Barnhart, brothers, Dale Woodgerd, Carrol Woodgerd and Frank "Bob" Woodgerd and her son-in-law, Dave Hensler.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 28, 2016 in the Cremeens Funeral Home, Racine. Officiating will be Rev. Arland King. Interment will be in the Letart Falls Cemetery.
