Edna "Jean" I (Stewart) Denney

Edna “Jean” I. Denney, 94, of Gallipolis, passed away, at 11:12 pm on Friday, May 26, 2017 in the Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born May 2, 1923, in Bidwell, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Dixie Gardner Stewart. She retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center as a case worker. Jean was an artist and loved doing “Chalk Talks” at her church the Addison Freewill Baptist Church and area nursing homes.

Jeans is survived by a son, Tom Denny, of Gallipolis, and Linda Yoder, of Purvis, Ms., thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. Her siblings, Bob Stewart, of Georgia, Ilene Mulford, of Boswell, and Ida Lou Evans, of NC., and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband, C. Thurman Denney, whom she married on August 10, 1941, her daughter, Janet, sons, Jimmy and his twin John, and Rick, a grandson, Todd Yoder, siblings, Olin, Donna, Louis and Larry.

Jean is rejoicing today in her new home prepared for her and meeting her Savior and Loved ones whom went before.  

There will be no calling hours or funeral services. Private interment will be in the Addison Reynolds Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Jeans memory to the Addison Freewill Baptist Church.210 Addison Pike, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
