Kathryn Virginia "Ginny" (Philson) Plichta

Kathryn Virginia “Ginny” Philson Plichta, 96, of Racine (Antiquity community), passed away, at 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at her residence. Born April 13, 1920 in Antiquity, Oh, she was the daughter of the late John Rush and Frances Sayre Philson. She was a secretary, homemaker, an avid quilter and quilt maker. She also was a member of the Antiquity Baptist Church for 83 Years.

Ginny is survived by her daughter, Suellen V. Smith, of Antiquity, a son Robert (Lyn) Plichta, of Little Rock, Arkansas, a granddaughter, Wendy (Joseph) Maimone, of Gargield Heights, Oh. a grandson, Lee (Rachel) Plichta, of Mayfield Heights, Oh., a great-grandson, Christopher (Melissa) Smith, of Garfield Heights, Oh., a great-great grandson, Ethan Michael Smith.  A sister-in-law, Margaret Orloff, of Willoughby, Oh., and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Ginny is preceded in death by her husband, Emil “Spike” A. Plichta, whom she married on February 2, 1946 in Columbus and preceded her on September 17, 2003, two half-sisters, Mary Kathryn Frisch, and Margaret Layne, a sister-in-law, Helen Carpenter.

Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016 in the Chapel at Letart Falls Cemetery. Rev. Adelbert Winegardner will officiate and interment will follow.
