Ronald E. Smith, 63, of Gallipolis, passed away at 7:59 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at his residence with his family at his side. He was born November 23, 1954 in Gallipolis, to the late Earl and Bette Gibson Smith. Ron had recently retired from L.D. Managements of Columbus, Ohio and had formerly owned and operated a Subway in Huntington, W.Va., and the Village Quick Shop in Centenary.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debbie Thomas Smith, a daughter, Amber Smith, a son, Nicholas (Terin) Smith, grandchildren, Ty, Kenyon, Neveah, Carly, Leigha, Kaylee, and Ellie, all of Gallipolis. Brothers, Jeff (Marsha) Smith, and Greg Smith, both of Gallipolis, a sister, Tami (Kevin) Hawk, of Oklahoma, a brother-in-law, Eric Thomas, and a mother-in-law, Joyce Thomas, both of Gallipolis, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Ron is preceded in death by his brother, Mark Dallas Smith, and father-in-law, Bob Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 9, 2017 in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Gallipolis. Pastor Paul Voss will officiate and interment will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Ron’s memory to the Holzer Hospice, 100 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
