Willard Bowen

Willard Bowen, 93, of Scottown, passed away, at 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at his grandson’s Crown City residence. Born July 20, 1923 in Proctorville, Ohio he was the son of the late Alta and Alice Fern Bowen. After he retired from General Motors he became a farmer. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart.  He also was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn A. Carpenter Bowen, a son, Donald (Kathi) Bowen, Sr., of Scottown, grandchildren, Adam Bowen, Rebekkah Bowen-Leitner, and Donald Bowen Jr. Several great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, John Lewis Bowen, and a brother, William J. Bowen.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016 in the Cremeens Funeral Chapel, Gallipolis. Pastor Morgan Soto will officiate and interment will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to the funeral on Friday at the funeral home.
