Wilma R. Smith, 80, Portland, passed away at 3:07 A.M. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at her residence. Born June 11, 1937 in Buffalo, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late Roscoe "Pete" and Gertrude Paranich Cozart. Wilma was employed for several years as a licensed practical nurse at the Veterans Memorial Hospital Extended Care Center. She was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, Sonshine Circle and the church choir. Wilma loved crocheting hats and scarfs for children and also loved to read to the kindergarten classes. She enjoyed gardening and singing in the choir. She married James J. Smith on November 26, 1956 in Portland, Ohio and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2000
.Surviving are her children, Carter (Jennifer) James, Pomeroy, Lee (Charlene) Smith, Portland, Elaine (Stacey) Smith, Mansfield Center, Connecticut, Renee (Kim) Smith, Columbus, Ohio and Karla Smith, Orient, Ohio. Grandchildren surviving are Audrey, Allison, Travis, Jennifer, Lindsay, Maggie, Gabe, Amanda, Casey, Mica, Dakota, Harley, Jamey and Mark and several great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, John Wesley (Chris) Cozart, Oklahoma, Edward (Sheila) Cozart, Pomeroy, Ronald Cozart, Portland and Charles Cozart, Columbus, Ohio. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Danielle Smith, two sisters, Lois Cozart and Crystal Cozart and brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Thelma Cozart and Paul and Paulette Cozart. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 21, 2017 in the Bethany United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Marshall. Interment will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery in Long Bottom. Friends may call from 6 - 8 P.M. Thursday at the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
