Mary Eldie Adkins, 83, Gallipolis, passed away at 9:10 P.M. Sunday, October 29, 2017 in the Arbors at Gallipolis. Mary was born August 17, 1934, daughter of the late William (Tink) and Jennie Thomas Jones. She was the wife of the late Chester (Chuck) Adkins. Mary was retired from the Old Republic Insurance Company and was a member of the Caney Creek Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas Jones and one sister, LaVerne "Sissy" Walters. Mary is survived by four step children, one brother, Billy (Sylvia) Jones, of Richlands, North Carolina and one sister, Jennie (Cranford) Heath, of Kingston, North Carolina, a special nephew, Bobby Tackett, of Pikeville, Kentucky and a host of step grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Visitation will be Wednesday at 5 P.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home, Pikeville, Kentucky, Church services will be Wednesday at 7 P.M. The funeral will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 12 Noon at the funeral home with Brian Hundley officiating. Interment will be in the Johnson Memorial Park. Cremeens-King Funeral Home serving the family.
