Alma Gay Gower, 94, of Bidwell, Ohio formerly of Fairmont passed away on June 17, 2024 in the Holzer Senior Care. She was born on May 20, 1930, a daughter of the late Earl and Goldie Carpenter Boyce. She attended East Fairmont Hight School and worked at Westinghouse Lamp Plant. She most enjoyed her rewarding career as a loving Christian mother.
Alma attended Mount Harmony Church, singing in the choir and reading her Bible. She enjoyed the homemakers club, swimming at the Fairmont spa. She most loved time with her family and her relationship with God and her strong faith.
She is survived by a beloved sister Anna Lee Estel of Fairmont; her children James “Jimmy” Gower Jr., of Fairmont, Gerald “Jerry” Gower and his wife Debra of Fairmont, Delilah “Amber” Ferris and her husband Frank of Proctorville, Ohio; grandchildren Brandi Bellville and her husband Bryan, Brandon Hamilton, Alisha Quickle and her fiancé Jesse Cunningham, Ashley Wilson, Jacob Gower and his wife Breanna, Amy Gower and Dani Bingamon; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Doe Gower; brothers Willard Boyce, George Travis, Norman Boyce, Ervin Boyce, Amos Boyce and Robert Boyce; sisters Ruby Satterfield, Lauraine Liller, Audrey May Boyce, Pearl Boyce and Edith Adams; and a daughter-in-law Beatrice Gower.
Funeral services will be held at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rich Buonaiuto officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
