Betty Lou Marsh, 87, of Dexter, passed away at 9:01 am on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in the St. Mary’s Medical Center of Huntington, West Virginia. Born May 7, 1938, in Lucasville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Leffingwell and Della Eblin Leffingwell Libby. She was a homemaker, and she loved collecting antiques, arranging flowers, cooking, and crafting.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence “Chip” South, her children, Valerie (Thomas) Casper, Dain Monhollen, Clifton Monhollen, Leland Monhollen, Gathern Monhollen, Joie (Wesley) Gorslene, and Grace Marsh. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a brother, Edward Leffingwell, also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Steven Ashford, J.C. Monhollen, and Marshall Monhollen and a daughter, Sabrina Monhollen.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 1:00 pm, in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Pomeroy with Pastor Steve Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown City Cemetery, in Gallia County. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 am - 1:00pm the day of the service.
