Carolyn J. Collins, 80, of Pomeroy, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her residence at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026. Born June 11, 1945, in Franklin, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Wallace Russell and Helen Smith Sauer.
Carolyn dedicated her career to serving the children of Meigs Local School District, where she worked as a teacher’s aide until her retirement. Her kindness, patience, and gentle spirit touched countless young lives over the years.
She is survived by her husband, Richard E. “Rick” Collins, whom she married on January 2, 1982, in Middleport, Ohio; her daughters, Amy (Mickey Williams) Satterfield of Middleport, and Kelly Roush of Middleport; and her grandchildren, Shelby (Brandon) Bowling, Dillyn (Corey Grey) Ohlinger, Dawson McClure, Owen (Salem) McClure, and Branton Roush. She also leaves behind her great‑grandchildren, Kyndal, Jenson, Avery, and one expected great‑grandchild. Surviving as well are her sister, Lois Harkins of Athens, Ohio; and her brothers, Tom Russell of Stewart, Virginia, and Jeff Russell of Reedsville, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather who raised her, Lewis Sauer, and her brother George Sauer.
