Charles "Bill" William Roberts Sr.

Charles “Bill” William Roberts Sr. 78, of Racine, Ohio, passed away, at 2:15 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in the Holzer Meigs Emergency Department. He was born on May 31, 1947, in Montgomery, West Virginia, to the late Goldie Frances (Hill) and Richard Thomas Roberts.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Marie Pickens Roberts, whom he married on August 11, 2007. He is also survived by his children, Dawn Roberts Urbina, Mary Ann Riffle, Angela Nicole Roberts, Thomas (Katelyn) Roberts, Joseph Phillips, and Grant Phillips.

He leaves behind 22 cherished grandchildren, Tabitha, Leah, Tiffany, Georgie, Anthony (Jayme), Nathan (Makayla), Kody (Baylee), Jaiden (Alex), Taylor, Ethan, Nick, Maddie, Aubrey, Mylah, Colin, Brittany, Reese, Candance, and Riley, and five great-grandchildren, Karson, Nash, Briggs, Dalla, Rianna, and Bryson.

He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Luke (Cathy) Pickens, and Nels Pickens, his special lifelong friends, Garry Johnson, and Archie Fisher; his cousin, Susie Stewart; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Kay Roberts; his parents, Goldie and Richard Roberts; his brother, Jim Roberts; his sister, Wanda Thompson; his granddaughter, Chelsie Knopp; his nephew, Tim Thompson; and brothers-in-laws, Pat Thompson and Harry Pickens Jr.

Bill had a deep love for the open road and spent over 40 years as a truck driver, officially retiring on, October 6, 2025. He found joy in riding his Harley and exploring new places. A devoted race car enthusiast, Bill could spend hours sharing stories and talking about races with anyone willing to listen.

He was proud member of the Racine First Baptist Church, certified in 1977 with the Racine Fire Department, and ran on the squad, and honorably served his county in the United States Army for eight years. Bill Also dedicated time to his community as a Boy Scout Leader, Mentoring and guiding young people.

Above all, Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He never met a stranger, just a simple hello was all it took for him to start a conversation and make a new friend. His kindness, storytelling, and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in the Racine First Baptist Church with Pastor Duke Holbert officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors and a Racine Fire Department farewell tribute in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 11-1 pm at the Church. The Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine is entrusted with the arrangements.
