Daniel “Danny” B. Sayre, Jr., of Pleasant Hill, California, and formerly of Racine, passed away, on July 31, 2025. Born February 18, 1980, in Gallipolis, he was the son of Daniel B. and Donna Theiss Sayre who survive in Racine. He was a previous Research Scientist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, in Livermore California. He was a 1998 graduate of Southern High School, and received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. in Physics from the Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Crina Orac Sayre, whom he married on April 27, 2009, in Athens, his daughter, Emily Sayre, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Necolai and Maria Orac, of Romania, a sister, Dena (Jeff Adams) Lambert, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, aunts and uncles, Sharon and Roger Birch, of Racine, Kenneth and Debbie Theiss Jr., of Carroll, Oh., David and Sandra Theiss, of Westerville, Oh., and Bryce and Debbie Sayre, of Coshocton, Oh. Three special cousins Erin Brooks, Julie Sayre, and David Sayre, as well as several other cousins also survive.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Kenneth R. and Bernice Theiss, Paternal grandparents, Derrell B. Sayre and Doris Sayre Rogers, two brothers-in-law, Frank Lambert and Nicolae Orac.
Private family services will be held at the convenience of the family and interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Danny’s memory to the Racine Volunteer Fire Dept. PO box 246, or the Daniel B. Sayre Jr Scholarship Fund, PO box 323, Racine, Ohio. The Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine is entrusted with Danny’s arrangements.
