David L. McCormick Sr., 73, of Crown City, passed away, at 2:19 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, in Huntington, West Virginia. Born November 15, 1951, in Oak Hill, Ohio he was the son of the late Willard “Mack” McCormick and Eldora Pelfrey Hayes. He a was carpenter and worked for various construction companies.
He is survived by his wife Betty Kimberling McCormick, whom he married on February 15, 1991, in Gallipolis and his children, David McCormick, Jr., of Gallipolis, Rebecca Smart, of Albany, Ohio, Kylie (Michael Smith) McCormick, of Gallipolis, and Jamie (Amber) Mitchell, of New Haven, West Virginia, his grandchildren, Tiffany McCormick, Kara McCormick, Ashley Fryar, Grant Smart, Nathan Smart, AJ Smart, Layton Smith, Louis Smith, Alex Mitchell, and Ethan Mitchell, four great-grandchildren, Cohen, Baylor, Mason, and Carson. His brothers, Steve (Marty) McCormick, of Gallipolis, Charlie McCormick, of Gallipolis, and Mike (Connie) McCormick, of New Haven, WV, his sisters, Sharon Reece, of Florida, Roberta Saunders, of Florida, Carol McCormick, of Florida, Bonnie Johnson, of Florida, and Paula Tankel, of Georgia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank McCormick, John McCormick, and a sister, Diane McCormick.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Gallipolis with Phil Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Nick Cemetery. There will be a Potluck Dinner after the graveside service at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church for friends and family. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Wednesday.
