David “Dave” Henry Spencer or "Spink" to his friends of Racine, Ohio passed away after a long battle with kidney failure on Monday, May 20, 2024 while in the Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was 76 years old. David was born in Mason, West Virginia on March 30, 1948 to Elson and Dorothy Spencer. He lived the majority of his life in Racine, Ohio. David was a graduate of Southern High School, class of 1966 and later graduated with his associates degree from Mountain State College in accounting. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Spencer (Weaver), daughter Selena Spencer (Steve Dunlap), brother Ike Spencer (Judy), nephew John Henry Spencer (Lorri), niece Lisa Wolfe, and brother in law Tony Weaver (Shirley Wilson). David was preceded in death by his parents, Elson and Dorothy Spencer, and his brother Larry Spencer (Kay).
David was a loving husband and father who served his community of Racine, Ohio as the village treasurer and wrote multiple grants to help revitalize the town. He also served the Meigs County Highway Department for 34 years. When asked what David's greatest accomplishment was, he would say, getting over 58 million dollars in grants for the Village of Racine. David loved watching baseball, golf, football and attending Cincinnati Bengals and Ohio State football games. He also loved playing the drums and was in numerous bands since he was twelve-years-old. David had a big personality and his laughter would fill a room. He never met a stranger and was loved by many.
Viewing hours will be on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm and funeral services will proceed at 2:00pm at the Cremeens-King Funeral Home located at 823 Elm St. Racine, Ohio. A masonic funeral will begin at 1:30pm during the viewing hours. Following the funeral processions David will be buried at Greenwood Cemetery located in Racine, Ohio. A dinner to celebrate David’s life will be held at Sikorski's Family Restaurant located at 301 3rd Street, Racine, Ohio. Please be sure to celebrate dad’s love of football by wearing your favorite team’s gear. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s name to RACO in Racine, Ohio.
