Our family is saddened to announce that Donald Zeke Thacker Sr., 74, of Gallipolis entered eternal rest at 6:08 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2024 in the Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia after battling recent health conditions. He fought a good fight to the very end.
Donald was born February 13, 1950 in Pikeville, Kentucky, son of the late Warren and Birdie Dempsey Thacker. Donald later moved to Gallia County where he worked in the timber industry. He loved his family and farming. He could most likely be found outdoors gardening or with one of his many horses.
Donald is survived by his life-long partner, Linda Brothers, mother of Austin Thacker, his children, Donald Zeke (Lori) Thacker Jr., Dona Thacker, Aaron (Carla) Thacker and Austin Thacker. Also surviving is his brother, Glenn Thacker and sisters, Shirley Thacker and Sadie Ball, step-children, Melinda Roberts and Brittany Rupe as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Brady Jean Thacker, his beloved Barbara Jean Adkins Thacker (mother to Donald Jr., Dona and Aaron), his brothers, Harold Thacker, Sam Thacker, Edgar Dotson, Elmer Dempsey and Oscar Ray Dempsey and his sister, Bonnie Thacker.
Donald was an extremely private person throughout his life. Per his request there will be nor formal funeral services. The Cremeens-King Funeral Home will handle his cremation. Donald will be interred in the Brush Ridge Cemetery in Huntington Township at the convenience of the family.
