Doris Mae Johnson Sayre, our precious mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. She was 95 years old.
Doris was the heart and soul of our family. She raised four surviving children in a loving Christian home: Judy Sayre Brace, John Sayre (Judy), Aaron Sayre (Shirley), and Oliver Sayre Jr. (Ada).
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Sayre Sr., parents Clinton and Ethel Ward Johnson, son in law, Jim Brace and great grandson, Chance Branham, brothers, Clyde, Emerson, Jim, Gary and Roger Johnson and sisters, Betty Combs, Mary Gillian, and Carole Gillian.
Doris is survived by eleven grandchildren: Michael Brace, Teressa Sheldon, Dionne Byer, James Brace Jr., Stephanie Filson, Jessica Williams, Lori Sayre, Crystal Brown, Oliver Sayre III, Jodee Branham, and Justin Sayre and their spouses. Many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends who loved her also survive.
She attended the Morse Chapel Church for many years and was a member of Carmel-Sutton Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Doris was a happy and kind person with a smile and kind word for anyone she met. She loved Jesus above all. She would want to be remembered with laughter and thoughts of a life well-lived. She will be dearly missed.
Special thanks to Hospice and Connie and Jimmy Wells for their kindness in this difficult time.
