Eber Pickens, 86, of Racine, Ohio passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 5:42 a.m. in the Holzer Meigs Emergency Department. Born June 17, 1938, in Portland, Ohio, Eber was the son of the late Eber and Goldie Haire Pickens. Eber owned and operated Eber’s Gulf/Citgo gas station, a popular community hangout, in Racine for over 40 years. He was also a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Ravenswood.
He is survived by his wife, Delora “Dee” Barnette Pickens, whom he married on August 14, 2000, in Ravenswood, West Virginia, step-children, Douglas Barnette, of Parkersburg, WV, and Traci O’Neil, of Cottageville, WV, step-grandchildren, Trina Gaston, Kasie Trickett, Mallory Clark, Robbie O’Neil, Cody O’Neil, and Zack O’Neil, and 8 step-great-grandchildren. Special nieces Debbie Arnott and Angie George also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Hazel Sellers and Effie Pickens.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 1:30 p.m in the First United Pentecostal Church of Ravenswood. Interment will follow in the Letart Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the church 2 hours prior to the service. Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine, Ohio is entrusted with the arrangements.
