Edward "Eddie" Barnette Obituary

Edward “Eddie” Wilson Barnette, 58, passed away, on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in the Charleston Area Medical Center, General Division. Born February 26, 1964, in Gallipolis, he was the son of the late George R. and Betty Joan Angel Barnette who survives in Gallipolis. He loved his family and friends and became an important part of our community. He was a role model for many and a leader for others.

Eddie graduated from Gallia Academy high school in the summer of 1982. He was on the first wrestling team in school history and continued to show his support to the sport of wrestling for years to come. He started the Crossface Club for Gallia Academy wrestling. Every week he would provide the wrestler of the week t-shirts for the student athletes, who performed at the highest level. He was a Blue Devil at heart!

In 1994, Eddie began working for what is now called Constellium Aluminum and built a wonderful career for himself. He was a proud member of the United States Steel Workers Local 5668. He served as a Union official for many years before becoming president of the Local 5668 in 2018. As president of the largest Union in West Virginia, Eddie worked passionately for his union family and the retirees.

One of the most important parts of Eddie’s life was his family.
