Ernest L. Richmond, 72, of Rutland, passed away, at his residence, at 5:58 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023. Born April 19, 1950, in Leslie, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Wilbur Clair and Ida May Barnhart Richmond. He was a retired coal miner and he loved to fish.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Roper Richmond, children, Heath (Michelle) Richmond, of Middleport, Melissa (Josh) Dunaway, Shelby (Allen Mooney) Shipley, and Larry Napper, all of Langsville, grandchildren, Natasha Knapp, Tiaria Hively, Tasia Richmond, Teagan Richmond, David Shipley, Tyler Shipley, Alexis O’Brien, Katelyn Ritterbeck, Salem Napper, Isabella Napper, Hazel Napper, Journey Mooney, and Reynolds Mooney, great-grandchildren, Haylen Knapp, Heaven Knapp, Harmony Knapp, Hadley Knapp, Kaia Hively, Kyson Hively, Eli Hart, and Kallie Hart. Siblings, Brenda Morbitzer, of Grove City, Ohio, Darrell Richmond, of Wichita, Kansas, and Larry Richmond, of Rutland, as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Richmond.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Pomeroy with Elder Randy McDaniel officiating. Friends may call an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
