George Bowens, Jr., 78, of Gallipolis, passed away, at 10:05 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in the Abbyshire Place, Bidwell, Ohio… Born January 11, 1948, in Nolan West Virginia, he was the son of the late George W. and Elizabeth M (Watkins) Bowens Sr. He was a retired dump truck driver.
He is survived by his daughters, Crystal (Jeremiah) Watson, of Crown City, and Barbara (Carl) Fillinger, also of Crown City, grandchildren, Kalob Watson, Payden Watson, and Kim Fillinger, two great-grandchildren, Belle and Kasper Watson. A brother, Bruce (Ruby) Bowens, of Columbus, sisters, Brenda (Frank) Smallwood, of Columbus, Cathy Caudill, of Crown City, Mary Bowens, of Jackson, and Shirley Tucker, of Flattwoods, Kentucky, as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Bowens, brothers, Benny and Danny Bowens, and a sister, Fay Kelly.
Interment will be in the Centenary Cemetery at a later date. The Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Gallipolis, is entrusted with the arrangements.
