Harvey “Dave” David Pelfrey, 82, of Vinton, passed away at 12:22 am on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at his residence. Born June 2, 1943, in Oak Hill, Ohio he was the son of the late Harvey and Mary Dyer Pelfrey. He was the owner operator of Dave’s Home Improvement. He also loved to fish.
He is survived by his children, Steve (Michelle) Pelfrey, of Panama City, Florida, and Tammy Smith, of Chillicothe, Oh., ten grandchildren, Tosha (Vishall) Verma, Steve (Kristen) Pelfrey, Kristina (Zane) Whaley, Violet Pelfrey, Ciara (Patrick) Logan, Logan (McKenna) Layne, Candra Gregory, Brent Pelfrey, Chelsea Pelfrey, and D.J. Pelfrey. Eleven great-grandchildren, siblings, Beverly Smith, of Gallipolis, Pamela (David) Smith, of Canada, Roger Pelfrey, of Michigan, and John (Sherree) Pelfrey, of Bidwell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Ruby I. Daniels Pelfrey, whom he married on March 3, 1962, and preceded him on April 7, 2026. A son, Harvey D. Pelfrey Jr., a daughter, Mary Pelfrey Rawls, siblings, Nancy Clarkson, William “Bill” Pelfrey, Danny Lee Pelfrey, and Larry Gene Pelfrey also preceded him.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 pm. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in the Centenary Cemetery with his brother Roger Pelfrey officiating. Friends may call from 11am to 12 Noon on Tuesday at the Cremeen-King Funeral Home, Gallipolis.
