James Edward Brace Jr.

James Edward Brace Jr., 52, of Portland, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026, at his home. He was born April 6, 1974, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, to the late James E. Brace Sr. and Judith Sayre Brace, who resides in Portland, Ohio.

In addition to his mother, Jimmy is survived by his sisters, Teressa (James) Shelton of Arlington, Texas, and Dionne Byer of Portland, Ohio; his brother, Michael (Kathy) Brace of Wellston, Ohio; his three children, Derik Brace of Dayton, Ohio, Logan Brace of Crown City, Ohio, and Miles Brace of Crown City, Ohio; and a special great-nephew, Noah James Wilson.

Jimmy graduated from Hannan Trace in 1992. After high school, he pursued his love for coaching and touched many lives throughout his career. Jimmy spent the last few years helping take care of his grandmother, Doris Sayre, until her death in June of 2025.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Joyce and Ernie Sisson; his aunt, Kathryn Hart; his maternal grandmother, Doris Sayre; and his paternal grandparents, Edison and Mable Brace.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Sunday,June 14, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Cremeens-King Funeral Home in Racine, Ohio.
