Jennifer Lynn Whitlock, born February 26, 1953, in Norfolk, VA, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH, surrounded by her cherished loved ones.
She was a loving and caring mom, Nina, and friend, with her favorite roll being Nina. She loved cutting up, laughing and being silly. She never let anyone do without. She was a daddy’s girl through and through. She loved traveling and the ocean. They lived in Virginia, Midway Island, Hawaii and Florida during his 22-year navy career.
She is survived by her only son, Charles (Amanda) McKinney, of Vinton, and her only granddaughter, BFF, shopping buddy, and partner in crime, Nevaeh McKinney. If the two weren’t together, you would hear about her, and anyone can tell you she was the apple of her Nina’s eye. She leaves behind a super cool cat named, cupcake; she was as spoiled as Nevaeh and the two constantly fought for their Nina’s attention. They were so jealous of each other, it was hilarious. She is also survived by her sister, Lisa Noland, aunts and uncles, Edie Hubbard, Karen (Dave) Bellamy, Tom Phillips, and Jeanie Lever, several nieces and nephews, a slew of cousins, her special friend Tammy Johnson whom she loved as much as a sister, and a special shout out to Christy Bareswilt whom she also loved as a daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Deloris (Phillips) Whitlock, her brother, William “Billy” Whitlock, and multiple aunts and uncles; Gary (Anna Phillips), Rod Phillips, Nancy Phillips, Darlene Davis, Larry Hubbard, Jimmy (Sheila) Hubbard, Nancy (Harold) Patterson, Ronnie (Edie) Hubbard, Bonnie (Ronnie) Ransom, Roger (Nancy) Hubbard, and two special nieces, Donna and Kelly.
Calling hours will be from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home in Pomeroy, OH with a Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Zach Brumfield officiating. There will be no graveside services as she wished to have her ashes spread in the ocean, in Norfolk, VA. She wanted to leave this world in the same place she came into it.
