Larry Gene Sayre, 79, of the Syracuse community, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, November 27, 2025 in the Ohio Health Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born July 9, 1946, in New Matamoras, Ohio and the son of the late Everett Cecil and Maxine Mount Sayre. He graduated from Southern High School in 1964 and retired in 2009 from the Roll Shop at Century Aluminum. Larry loved fishing, hunting and Ohio State University football, but his most important matters were his love of God and the love he had for his family.
Larry will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Deloris Gail Sayre, his daughter, Sherry (Ray) Werry, of Racine, his granddaughters, Erin Chapman, of Belpre, Ohio and Jamie (Keith) Dwyer, of Racine, his great-granddaughter, Kenna Castor, his brothers, Brady Sayre, of Pomeroy and Terry (Sharon) Sayre, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, his sister-in-law, Debbie Sayre, of Racine. Also surviving are his special friends, Harold (Slyvia) Whitt, Tammy Smith and Dreama (Jeff) Dickens, all of Columbus, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Larry will also be missed by his beloved dog, Sissy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Sayre and a sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Bill Carleton.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Fisher. Interment will be in the Letart Falls Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Larry's memory to the Ohio Health Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43214 who provided exceptional care and comfort to Larry and his family in his final days.
