Leonard "Bubby" Lee New Jr.

Leonard Lee “Bubby” New Jr., 42, Vinton, passed away tragically on Monday afternoon, September 22, 2025, near Porter. Born January 14, 1983, in Gallipolis, Ohio he was the son of Janice E. Ferrell New and Leonard Lee New Sr., of Bidwell. He was a carpenter.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his children, Chloe King, Shyla Queen, Careylee Murphy New, Alexus New, Zuri New and Timothy Harley New, his sister, Tylina (Kedrick Gordy) New Brown, of Bidwell,  "bonus" brother, Jaelin Shortridge, his maternal grandparents, Gertrude and Harvey Ferrell, of Bidwell, his aunts and uncles, Gege and Steve Forgey, of Vinton, Phyllis and Roy Caldwell, of Bidwell, Steve and Paula Ferrell, of Bidwell and Greg and Mary Ferrell, of Bidwell. Also surviving is a niece who was as close as a sister, Shelena Doss, of Gallipolis, nieces, Keyana (Steven Herrera-Jimenez) Shortridge, Aryanna Wright and Teonna Williams, nephews, Holiday Jabrell (Jada Brumfield) Brown, Sevin Brown and Zakhia Justice, special cousins, Ruby DeBoard, , Leslie Baker, Eva Riley, Danielle Perry, Rayley Adkins, Maddie Adkins , Misty Perry  and Patrick Caldwell and special friends, Sarah Burns, Hillary Johnson, Brandon Unroe and Chessie Husk.

Bubby was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leonard G. and Marie New and three aunts, Kathy Perry, Debbie Jones and Susan Miller.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2025, in the Vinton Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Clyde Ferrell. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Gallipolis, is serving the New family.
