Mark A. Burton, Sr., of Greensburg, Indiana, and formerly of Gallipolis, passed away, at 3:30 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024 in the Morning Breeze Retirement Community, in Greensburg, In. Born April 3, 1945, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, he was the son of the late Glenn and Leona Mae Singer Burton. Mark Transferred from BCA in Greensburg, Indiana, in 1974, to work for Federal Mogul, Borg Warner and later GKN in Gallipolis where he would retire in 2004. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a member of the Ohio Bucks Club. Mark Hunted and fished with family and friends for many years and was loved by all the knew him. Being a Pa Paw was his joy that completed his time on this earth.
He is survived by his son, Shawn E. Burton, of Toledo, a sister, Frances “Midge” Wilson, of Greensburg, Indiana, a brother, Danny Quills, of Dubuque, Iowa and grandchildren, Amber Janelle Burton, and Kelsey Faye (Shane) Milhoan, of Pomeroy. Six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Faye Vanvolkenburg Burton who preceded him on December 12, 2003, a son, Mark A. Burton, Jr on January 21, 1996 and his brothers, John, Donald, Chester, and Terry Burton.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024 in the Chapel of Hope in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 12 Noon to 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Gallipolis.
