Mattie M. Teaford, 88, of Racine, Ohio, passed away at 2:35 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in the Arbors at Pomeroy. Born November 13, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Harley and Carrie Gillian Whaley. She was a retired cook, having worked for the Crow’s Restaurant in Pomeroy and the Racine Kountry Kitchen. She was also a member of the Reedsville Nazarene Church.
Mattie is survived by her children, Richard (Debbie) Teaford of Highland Heights, KY, Kevin (Becky) Teaford of Grove City, OH, Steven (Laura) Teaford of Grove City, OH, and Cheryl (Scott) Oliver of West Columbia, WV, grandchildren, Jennifer (Joshua) DeWeese, Alison Smith, Kody (Stephanie) Teaford, Lindsay Willis, Ashlee (Alex) Bates, Matthew (Michelle) Teaford, and Bradley (Alisa) Teaford, and great-grandchildren, Connor DeWeese, Madison DeWeese, Emma Smith, Austin Smith, Paige Hanning, Joah Bates, Adalee Bates, Lachlan Bates, Samuel Bates, Sutton Brown, Kyleigh Moreira, Coralie Teaford, Sydney Teaford, and Gwendolyn Teaford. Brothers, Paul (Debbie) Whaley, of Albany, OH, and Don (Donna) Whaley of Coolville, OH, as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Teaford on March 19, 1996, her brother, Charles Whaley, and her sisters, Donna Sellers, Louise Staats, and Evelyn Wingrove.
Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine, Ohio with Pastor Robbie Keene officiating. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. the day of the service. Interment will follow in the Letart Falls Cemetery.
