Phyllis Lee Vance, 86, of Cheshire, passed away, at 9:26 a.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2026 in the Abbyshire Place, Bidwell, Ohio. Born September 10, 1939, in Gallia County she was the daughter of the late Lee and Bessie Burkett Merritt. She was a homemaker and attended the Poplar Ridge Church.
She is survived by her children, Shelia (Darrell) Jones, of Cheshire, Michael (Angel) Vance, of Gallipolis, and Bradley Vance, Sr., of Cheshire. Grandchildren, Melinda (Jonathan) Baker, Nic Jones, Misti (Billy) Dillon, Terrami Cicoff, Christopher Vance, Melissa Vance, Alex McWilliams, Ashton Vance, Bradley Vance Jr., Cadence Vance, and Dustin Vance. Sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Carnell “Abner” Vance, Jr., who preceded her on December 2, 2021. Her brothers, Arnold Merritt, and Carol Lee Merritt in infancy, and a sister, Delpha Jean Hammock also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Gallipolis. Pastor Kenny Workman will officiate and interment will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Monday.
