Rachel D. Kiesling, 94, of Gallipolis, passed away, on 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at her residence. She was the sixth child of six children born on December 30, 1928, in Kayling, West Virginia, to the late Miriam Williams Dunn Hudson and William James Dunn. Her family moved to Kanauga, in 1942, and she worked the Gallipolis Daily Tribune until her marriage to Charles Kiesling then she help manage the family’s restaurant businesses.
Rachel attended the Fair Haven Church, in Kanauga, where for a time she taught the 5th and 6th grade students. She loved reading the Bible, chatting with her friends’ neighbors, writing poems, and she looked forward to walking with her friends and her faithful dog Gideon.
She is survived by her son, Mark Kiesling, and a daughter, Andrea (Jeff) Orschell, both of Cincinnati, a special friend, Jayne Wigglesworth, six grandchildren, Wendy Spears, Ty Reynolds, Leigha Wilson, Alexandra Young, Jennifer Kiesling, and Abby Zancudo. Fifteen great-grandchildren, Raven, Nathan, Travis, Chase, Adaline, Liam, Precais, Achillies, Aubrianna, Lincoln, Logan, Madison, Max, Presley, and Stefan, and nine great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kiesling, who preceded her on September 21, 1992, a daughter, Christi Reynolds, sisters, Ellen Fontaine, Edith Leitch, and Freeda Burnett, brothers, Jim and Bob Dunn.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens with Pastor Dan Lamphier officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Rachel’s memory to the Friends of Gallia County’s Animals, Samaritan’s Purse, or Christians United for Israel. The Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Gallipolis is entrusted with the arrangements.
