Jesus called Rev. James “Jim” Satterfield, 87, of Middleport, and formerly of Racine, home at 5:05 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. He passed away at his residence. Born April 13, 1937, in Belpre, Ohio, he was the son of the late Tye and Marie Smith Satterfield. He was a retired Pastor for over sixty years. He preached at several Churches such as, Wellston Church of God, Marietta Church of God, Rutland Church of God, and his most recent and longest tenure at the Mt. Moriah Church of God for over fifty years until his retirement. He was also a union carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie “Midge” Jones Satterfield, whom he married on October 10, 1993, in Syracuse, sons, Dennis (Deborah) Satterfield, of Whiteland, Indiana, Wayne (Shelly) Satterfield, of Middleport, and Gregory Satterfield, of Middleport, Grandchildren, Maggie (Seth) Tucker, Joe (Lacy) Satterfield, Naomi Parfait, Ozema (Christine) Parfait, Nicole (Brad) Freeman, Michelle (Ryan) Wilt, Michael Satterfield, Jase Bable Satterfield, and Andrea (Don) Moss. Brothers, Charles Satterfield, and Chet Satterfield, sisters, Ruth (Steve) Wilmarth, Leah Halla, and Glenda Bakke, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews will also survive.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Yolan Satterfield, son, Joseph Satterfield, grandsons, Jerrod Satterfield, Kaden Satterfield, and Clint Satterfield, brothers, Bob, Sam, Paul, and Russell Satterfield, and Marion Peoples, and a sister, Katheine Gosdeck.
A gathering of friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in the Mt. Moriah Church of God with Pastor Don Combs officiating and Pastor Rod Walker, Pastor John Evans, and Pastor Randy Carter assisting and special friends Rick and Dave Findley also assisting. The Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine is entrusted with Rev. Satterfield’s arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Pastor Jim’s memory to PO Box 323 Racine, Ohio 45771.
