Shirley Jo Littlefield, 89, of Racine, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2025. Born on December 13, 1935, in Parkersburg, WV, she was the daughter of Glenn and Helen Covey, both of whom preceded her in death.
Shirley was the salt of the earth and the light of her family; our one-of-a-kind, very beloved and cherished wife, mother, Granny, and friend.
Shirley graduated from Williamstown High School in 1953 and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics from Marietta College in 1957, where she proudly became a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Most importantly, while at Marietta College, she met the love of her life, Daniel aka Dan the Man! Shirley was a devoted Christian and regularly attended Bethany Methodist Church.
Shirley was as strong as an ox and as tough as nails, known for her quick wit, humor, infectious smile, laughter, and unwavering kindness. She loved cooking, baking, reading, shopping, traveling, playing bingo, but most of all, she found great joy spending time with her enormous family. She devoted her life to her family, whom she was extremely proud of and loved deeply, with the most important, hardest, but most rewarding career a Mother can have as a homemaker.
She leaves behind a legacy of wisdom and love, deeply missed by her husband of 67 years, Daniel; five children, Bill Littlefield (Katherine), Matt Littlefield (Kathy), Danielle Bruning (Mike), Rodney Littlefield (Jean), Amy Wolfe (Jim); 18 grandchildren, Nathan Littlefield, Tristan Littlefield (Brittany), Bethany Bruning, Kaitlynne Doles (Clay), Chris Bruning (Stephanie), Addie Leis (Derrick), Elliott Littlefield (Kacey), Mitchell Littlefield (Sydney), Ella Jenkinson (Chase), Meredith McCloud (Braden), Mac Littlefield, Isabelle Littlefield, Celia King (Ivan), Riley Littlefield, Rowan Littlefield, Reid Littlefield, Torrey Wolfe (Alex), and Kylie Garrett (Jonathan); 35 great-grandchildren; sister, Sheryl Meeks; Sister-In-Law, Cathy Emerson; Daughter-In-Law, Jo Ann Littlefield; Nephews; Doug Meeks, Jeff Meeks; Special Friends, Donna Sayre, Kris Harris; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by son, Mark Littlefield; granddaughter, Jennifer Wolfe; nephew, Scott Meeks; and brother-in-law, Duane Meeks.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Williamstown, WV, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that monetary contributions be made to the Jennifer Wolfe Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 323, Racine, Ohio, 45771 in Shirley’s honor. The Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine is entrusted with the arrangements.
