William Alvin Stover, 72, of Racine, went home to be with his family, at 8:02 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2025, in the Overbrook Center, Middleport. Born August 4, 1952, in Letart Falls he was the son of the late William “Wally” and Elizabeth Hoschar Stover. He was a retired truck driver for Heartly Oil. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, riding horses, and watching and reading westerns. He also loved to hunt in his spare time.
He is survived by his three daughters, Sherrie (Bryan) Branham, of Pomeroy, Kayla (Roger Hook) Stover, of Racine, and Meghan (Dave Milliron) Stover, of Racine, grandchildren, Brandon Branham, Brad Branham, Jessika Branham, and Alexandria Hook. A sister, Belva Fisher, of Ravenswood, WV., sisters-in-law, Ruth Sellers, Arlene Sellers, Debbie Smith, brothers-in-law, Ernie Sellers, Steve Sellers, and Gene Sellers, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded by the love of his life, Mary J. Stover, whom he married on June 15, 1974, in Letart Falls and preceded him on October 30, 2017, his brothers, Leonard (June) Stover, and Paul (Wanda) Stover, sisters, Altie Farmer and Irene (Butch) Johnson. His mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wayne and Ada Rowe, brothers-in-law, Butch Sellers, Ed Sellers, Johnny Ray Sellers, and Drew Fisher also preceded him.
The family would like to thank the Overbrook Center and staff and Shriver’s Hospice for the excellent care their father received.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the William Stover Memorial Fund, C/O Cremeens-King Funeral Home.
