Metal Caskets

The beauty of metal caskets including those made from bronze, copper, stainless steel, and steel are known for their unique finishes. Bronze and copper are among the most durable and beautiful of metals; both are naturally non-rusting. Stainless and carbon steel caskets come in a variety of grades, gauges, styles and finishes.

Copper caskets combine quality construction and beautiful finishes, and are naturally non-rusting.  A wide variety of styles, colors and features are available, allowing you to select a casket that is suited to individual preferences.  It is a selection in which you can take great pride.

 Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is known for its quality and longevity, making it a valued material for casket construction. Basic stainless steel contains 12% chromium with no nickel content. Stainless steel caskets are available in a wide range of colors and finishes with a large selection of personalization features. Stainless steel caskets feature a one-piece rubber gasket to help resist entry of outside elements.

 Carbon Steel

Carbon steel caskets are available in three grades (from thickest to thinnest): 16 gauge, 18 gauges and 20 gauges. While not as durable or resistant to corrosion as stainless steel, a wide selection of colors, finishes and personalization features make these caskets an attractive choice. They feature a one-piece top, formed from a single sheet of steel, for added strength. A continuous seam weld secures the casket bottom to ensure its structural integrity. In addition the majority of the steel caskets feature a one-piece rubber gasket that helps resist the entry of outside elements into the casket. These types of caskets are very popular.

Hardwood caskets

Hand crafted like fine furniture, each wooden casket has its own unique graining pattern. The natural warmth and beauty of wood is available in a variety of types and species such as: mahogany, walnut, cherry, maple, oak, pecan, poplar, and pine. The interior material of a wood casket is typically either velvet or crepe. The classification "hardwood" simply means that the wood comes from a leaf-bearing tree. "Softwood" comes from the needle or cone-bearing trees. Therefore, designation as a hardwood is not determined solely by the consistency or surface hardness of the wood itself, but the species of the tree from which it came. Cost can vary depending on whether the sides of the casket are constructed from solid wood or a veneering process has been utilized.

 Walnut

Considered a wood of beauty, walnut boasts a striking grain color and pattern. Walnut is warm and inviting, dignified and elegant, and engenders a pride of ownership. Having a natural lustrous patina, walnut is also known for its strength and durability.

 Cherry

If the legend holds true, George Washington was a visionary when he chopped down the cherry tree. Cherry has since grown to be one of the most popular of hardwoods. Because of its strength and stability, cherry is often used for burial caskets, paneling and gun stocks. Its rich, warm look and creamy, reddish color make it a favorite.

 Oak

Oak is a popular furniture and flooring favorite. This durable wood is used for doors, paneling, home furnishings and caskets. Oak has a prominent grain pattern that can be either tight or coarse, depending on the species.

 Pecan

Prized for the delicious pecan nut, pecan trees also produce a strong and heavy hardwood. Pecan is light in color and is often found in the construction of beautiful furniture and architectural paneling.

 Pine

Pine has been popular since colonial times. There are nearly 100 species of pine, ranging in color from pale yellow to light brown. Though not technically classified as a “hardwood,” it is considered to be a durable wood, usually straight grained with an even texture.

 Poplar

Excellent strength and stability make poplar a sound choice for caskets. Poplar has a medium-to-fine texture and a straight grain, as well as a mostly uniform texture. In addition to being used as a casket material, poplar is also commonly used in furniture manufacturing, cabinetry, interiors, and as a decorative veneer.

 Engineered Wood

As an investment in tomorrow, engineered wood ensures the long-term affordability of quality wood caskets and creates a stronger, more affordable, more eco-friendly product. Backed by consumer research, engineered wood features visual, structural and environmental benefits that consumers value.

Burial Vaults

At the Cremeens-King Funeral Homes we also offer a variety of outer burial containers. These are often referred to as burial vaults.  Although not required by law, most cemeteries require the use of a burial vault. We proudly offer our families Doric Burial Vaults.  For any questions or inquires about outer burial containers or burial vaults fill free to contact us at the phone numbers below.

Burial vaults are an accepted means of enclosing the casketed remains of a loved one within a grave. The purpose of a burial vault is to maintain the grave from the effects of settling and outside forces of water or excess weight caused by cemetery equipment. Doric Burial Vaults are manufactured by the use of strong reinforced concrete lined with a variety of carefully selected plastics and metals to assure the utmost durability and peace of mind. They are divided into two categories double and triple wall protection.

Triple Wall

Doric triple wall vaults are lined with gleaming metals - bronze, copper and stainless steel, bonded to durable plastics that form seamless linings within the reinforced concrete casing. The carapace of each vault is fitted with matching handcrafted metal cover and finished with decorative handles, emblem and nameplate with name, of decedent, date of birth and death. The colors of hand applied finishing details complement the casket selection. Below are the Doric Bronze, the Lydian Copper, and the Athenian Stainless Steel.
