Bette E. Mitchell, 84, Gallipolis, passed away at 10:32 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2016, in the Kobacker House of Ohio Health Hospice, Columbus, Ohio. Born April 6, 1931, in Cheshire, she was the daughter of the late Keith and Eunice Lewis Thorburn King. She started her working career at City Loan and then went on to the Halliday and Sheets law firm where she was a legal secretary. She was a member of the Gallipolis Christian Church. Her and her late husband, the late Billie Lee Mitchell, enjoyed riding their motorcycle with the Gold Wing Riders Club.
Bette is survived by her daughters, Victoria Mitchell, of Columbus, Oh., and Jacquelyn (Jerry) Smith, of Gallipolis, two grandsons, Oliver and Christopher. A brother-in-law, Gene (Janice) Mitchell, of Vinton, and a sister-in-law, Rosalee Mitchell, of Gallipolis.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Billie Lee Mitchell, on March 15, 2002, and brother-in-law, Ralph Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in the Cremeens Funeral Chapel, Gallipolis. Pastors Denny Coburn and Mike Lynn will officiate. Private entombment to follow in the Chapel of Hope Mausoleum at the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral services at the funeral home.
