Debra Faye (Holbrook) Johnson

Debra Faye Holbrook Johnson, 58, of Patriot, passed away, at 3:39 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016, in the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Virginia. Born December 7, 1957, in Ashland, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Faye Arthur Holbrook. She graduated from the Buckeye Hills Career Center in 1995 and she late assisted with teaching the Adult Basic and Literacy Education classes before attending the Licensed Practical Nurse program which she completed it in the fall of 1997. She was proud that she was able to graduate with both of her children and often joked about doing so. She later worked at Scenic Hills and Holzer Senior Care.

Debra is survived by her husband Mark Johnson, Sr., whom she married on May 28, 1995 in Cadmus, a daughter, Katherine “Kate” (Adam) Brewer, of Vinton; a son, Mark (Christie) Johnson, Jr., of Patriot, grandchildren, Marian (17),  Brooke (14), Dolly (7), Destiny (16),  Trey (11), Crystian (24), Heavenle (22) and Takala “Vivian” (20); a great-granddaughter, Haleigh (2). A brother, Anthony (Tonya) Hollbrook, of Patriot, and numerous nieces, nephews, and several extended family and friends also survive.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a daughter, Temberly D. Johnson, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law and, Ruby V. and Lloyd Gibson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in the Cremeens Funeral Chapel, Gallipolis. Pastor James Ellison will officiate. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery, near Cadmus. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
