The righteous, honorable, and gentlemanly father of my dearly beloved wife passed away today after a war with cancer. Michael B. Dunlap, 52, of Gallipolis, passed away, on September 9, 2016, in Gallipolis, OH, surrounded by his children and loved ones, and passed on quickly with no pain. Born December 16, 1963 in Washington Court House, he was the son of the late David and Freda Ferguson-Dunlap. He was a native south-central Ohio man, who overcame many obstacles. He was a United States Army veteran, who went on to work with the disabled, and the veterans community. He kindled friendships with everyone he met, everywhere he went. A thrifty man, he always offered good tips on how to pinch a penny. He worked hard, and he loved his wife, son, daughter, granddaughter, and extended family fiercely. He made horrible jokes which everyone loved to hear. He gave back to his communities, and was a good, kind, and gentle man. He graciously granted his son-in-law permission to marry his daughter. It was an honor and a privilege to have had the opportunity to know him, and we can only hope that when our times come, we leave a legacy and memory such as his. Rest in peace, Mike. You will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Dunlap; children, Kayla (Aaron) Dunlap-Blackburn, of Ft. Thomas, KY; Derrick (Rachel) Dunlap, of Portsmouth, OH; and Jessica Fazenbaker, of Pataskala, OH; a granddaughter, Hannah Dunlap; the mother of his children, Karen Eastham-Dunlap; sisters, Sharron Basset, Debra McKinney, and Kimberly Sheets. Brothers, Phil Dunlap, Tony Dunlap, and Paul Smith.

In keeping with Mike's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Cremation services are entrusted to the Cremeens Funeral Home, Gallipolis
